Join us in a conversation surrounding realizing, recognizing and responding to Human Trafficking with former FBI Special Agent Anna Brewer. Support our local community thru Extended Hands of Hope.

The topics of conversation will be as follows:

1) REALIZE that sex trafficking is happening - I will use data and anecdotes to educate the audience to REALIZE that sex trafficking happens in the Midwest, from small villages of 700 to larger cities, no community is immune to this issue.

2) RECOGNIZE the signs - I will use local case studies, pictures, and videos to educate the audience to RECOGNIZE the signs of sex trafficking.  The examples range from children to adults.   The audience should be able to RECOGNIZE what sex trafficking looks like from both a professional and personal viewpoint.

3) RESPOND to sex trafficking - Once the audience understands and believes that sex trafficking is happening in our communities ( REALIZES ), and when they RECOGNIZE the signs, I will offer a venue through which they can RESPOND.  The RESPONSE is also one that employers should take notice.  There are tools for human resources departments to use to create a safe workplace and ensure their employees are protected from violence.

In conjunction with our conversation we will be raising awareness for a local organization, Extended Hands of Hope.  We will hear from their team on their programs and community influence.  If you would like to support the cause further, please visit their Donation Page and reference ASIS Denver Mile Hi in the Comment Section.  Thanks in advance for your support of our community.

A few notes on our speaker who would first and foremost like to be known as a Mom, a Wife, and a Friend.

Anna Brewer was employed by the FBI for 24 years and held assignments in Washington DC, Reno, Nevada, and Omaha, Nebraska.  As a Special Agent assigned in Reno, Nevada, Anna established and managed an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and established and managed a Child Exploitation Task Force to combat child sex trafficking.  In 2009, she transferred to the FBI Office in Omaha, Nebraska, where Anna led the effort to establish and operate what became known as the Omaha Child Exploitation Task Force, a standing multi-agency task force dealing with sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of children. She currently is a Human Trafficking Training Consultant with the Women’s Fund of Omaha and the Lead Investigator for the Nebraska Human Trafficking Task Force.  Anna has trained over 32,000 law enforcement officials, prosecutors, advocates, health care providers, first responders, among many other groups throughout her career.  Anna volunteers with various non-profit organizations and faith groups to educate the community regarding human trafficking. In February 2016, Anna was recognized by the Nebraska Attorney General, Doug Peterson, with the Nebraska IMPACT Award, for her efforts to combat human trafficking in Nebraska. In March 2017, Anna was recognized by The American Mothers Inc. as both the “Nebraska Mother of the Year for Achievement” and the “National Mother of the Year for Achievement” 2017.  In 2018, Anna was selected as a member of the Leadership Nebraska Class XI.
